The Faculty of International Studies, Utsunomiya University, is seeking a full-time
Assistant Professor in the areas of Teaching English as a Foreign Language to assume
duties on April 1, 2007.

1. Position Available:
Assistant Professor,
Department of International Cultural Studies,
Faculty of International Studies, Utsunomiya University, JAPAN
2. Period of Employment: Three year contract from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2010
3. Major Courses:
(1) Specialized Education at the graduate level (master's course):
International English Language Teaching
(2) Specialized Education at the undergraduate level:
International English Communication
Advanced Foreign Language (Intensive English Training Camp and English Writing)
(3) General Education for all university students at the undergraduate level:
English
4. Other administrative work: Cooperation with the work which is necessary for the faculty
5. Field of Specialization: Teaching English as a Foreign Language
6. Working Conditions: Basic salary and bonuses in accordance with the Utsunomiya
University salary scales.
7. Date of Employment: April 1, 2007.
8. Qualifications:
(1) Ability to lecture at the graduate level of International Studies
(Master’s course), Utsunomiya University.
(2) Special educational achievements, merits and duties in English language
teaching at the university level
(3) Doctoral Degree (Preferred)
(4) Native Speaker of English, regardless of nationality
(5) Age no older than 63 as of April 1, 2007
9. Application Deadline: October 10 (Tuesday), 2006. Arrival by 5 p.m. of that day.
10. The following documents, in Japanese or in English, must be submitted for application.
Applications submitted by email will not be accepted.
(1) Curriculum Vitae. (Signature and Photo attached)
(2) List of Publications in order of publication date, categorized into "Books,"
"Academic Papers," "Reports," and "Miscellaneous." Each work should be
indicated as to whether it is individual or joint work. In case of joint
work, clearly specify your contribution. Three major works should be marked
with an asterisk in the list, and a brief description of each should be
given. (around 400 characters in Japanese or around 200 words in English).
(3) All Publications (Off-prints or copies available)
(4) Descriptions of major courses to be taught (around 1,000 characters in
Japanese or around 500 words in English, for each major course)
(5) Certificate of Doctoral Degree, if any. (Equivalent certificates accepted )
(6) Proof of special educational achievements in English language teaching at the
university level. The achievements should be evaluated by a public institution
or a related institution. (Equivalent certificates accepted. e.g. certificate
of awards)
