How to Pay the Fees
The membership fees must be paid in Japanese yen; any other currency is not acceptable. Please understand that any handling charges must be paid by applicants themselves if applying from abroad.
- If you are a resident in Japan, we strongly recommend you use the Automatic Deduction Service from your postal savings account. That secures your constant membership, and that is the most convenient and inexpensive way for ELSJ to receive your membership fees.
In order to use this service, you need to have your own Postal Savings Account. You may need your own personal seal ("inkan") to start an account. Please consult a local Post Office branch about how to open your own account. - If you find this fussy and inconvenient, you may pay by Postal Giro. We will send you an appropriate form.
- Overseas residents may use International Postal Money Order.
We are very sorry but we cannot accept any other kind of personal cheques or postal orders, because of the very expensive conversion fees. We don't accept credit cards either.
If you want to join us, please apply through the Online Membership Application Form below. We look forward to your contact.
