ANNOUNCEMENT: POSITION AVAILABLE

1. POSITION
   A  position for a tenured (associate) professor 
in English linguistics or related subjects beginning from April 1,
 2008 is available at Seisen University, Tokyo.  
Country of origin is open.  

 2.  QUALIFICATIONS
   Native English ability with a PhD or equivalent 
in the field of English linguistics or some related field 
(intercultural communication, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, 
discourse analysis, etc.) with at least five years of 
university level teaching experience in Japan required. 
 Age up to 55.  
Japanese language ability sufficient to participate in committee 
and general administrative work.  
At least five publications showing relevant research are required. 
 Those persons who are short-listed will be interviewed. 

3. DUTIES
   Teaching a minimum of five courses in the English curriculum, 
plus contributing to the graduate program and participating 
in administrative work as a full time member of the English Department.  

4.  SALARY & BENEFITS
   The  standard university salary scale and benefits 
(health insurance, bonuses, etc.) will apply depending 
on the level of formal education and the number of 
years of professional teaching experience.

5. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
(1) Full resume with recent photo. 
 The resume must give exact dates for schooling and work positions
 (day, month, year) in Japanese where relevant.
(2) List of publications, presentations and academic association memberships.
(3) Five publications
(4) Three letters of recommendation preferably from recent places of employment.
(5) Copy of highest diploma.
(6) Evidence of Japanese language proficiency
 (authorized Japanese language test scores, etc.)
(7) An essay of about 800-1000 words on your potential contributions 
to teaching at Seisen University.
